Need a great app for backing up data? Check out Backup Pro from Fire Chest Apps. The developer (and fellow Aussie) Sasha Kanthan has done a fantastic job with this app and has developed other great apps such as Usage Pro, Bookmark Pro and Health Pro.
Backup Pro has the “Built for BlackBerry” stamp of approval, a five star review rating and has a very comprehensive set of features as listed in the app’s description.
Backup and restore of any or all of:
Books, Camera, Calendar, Contacts, Documents, Downloads, Express, Messages (SMS/MMS), Music, Photos, Playlists, Print, Remember, Videos and Voice.
You can backup/restore from your phone’s internal memory and SD card to Box, Dropbox, Mega, Phone and SD card. It also gives you the security of encrypting your data prior to backup. Should you choose not to encrypt your data, it will appear as a set of Zip files. Calendar files are stored as iCalendar files and contacts saved as vCard 3.0 files which are compatible to import to applications on your desktop computer. It is also convenient to restore your data to a replacement handset or when migrating to a new handset.
In the app settings you are given the option of using compression, encryption and compression, or no compression. There is also a handy feature built in that allows you to force delete files that you are unable to delete with the regular File Manager app.
You can schedule a backup with the option of daily, weekly or monthly, and even set the time for the backup to start. A very handy feature for backing up when you are not using your device, i.e middle of the night.

Backup Pro is so simple to use it is almost iDiot proof (well, if it was made for iPhones it would be iDiot proof!). I have got myself into the habit of backing up to SD card weekly and a backup to my Dropbox account usually once a month. It is one of my most used apps, and I highly recommend it to anyone that values their data and needs to keep a secure backup. It is available in BlackBerry World for a very reasonable US$4.99.
