2 companies this week have sprinted out of the blocks as far as trying to steal a march on their own competitors is concerned.
First up is Carphone Warehouse in the UK (long term BlackBerry supporters) who have launched a page dedicated to:
REGISTER FOR THE NEW BLACKBERRY PASSPORT
Got your eye on the quirky new Passport from BlackBerry? This unique new device has everyone talking, and you could be one of the first to get your hands on it.
The brand new BlackBerry Passport might have a bit of an unusual shape, but it’s packed full of tools and brand new features to help you maximise your productivity.
It’s got one of the most unique QWERTY keyboards we’ve ever seen, and a really handy digital assistant. And the battery inside is one of the biggest in any smartphone you can buy right now.
So, it goes without saying that if you are in the UK click on the link above and jump the queue.
Meanwhile, in Germany, Media Markt HAD been offering pre-registration on the Passport but it would seem that their link was taken down quite quickly.
I sense the hand of BlackBerry…
What’s great here for us BlackBerrians is that these companies FEEL the Gathering Storm and want to grab a piece of the Passport pie asap. What’s even better, in the German case, is that it would seem BlackBerry are saying ‘NO, you can wait for us…’ a great improvement on the RIM days.
Fuelling more speculation that the leaked Passports we have seen aren’t QUITE the launch versions perhaps?
In the meantime, 7 days to go and I can’t wait.
