Spotify Teams with Discord to Marry your Music and Gaming

Spotify announced today that it is teaming with popular chat app Discord.

Spotify has quickly become the go-to streaming service for music. It has previously integrated with gaming consoles PS4 and Xbox One to give gamers and media lovers the opportunity to listen to their carefully curated playlists through their high definition TVs and sound systems.

Now, Spotify takes the game to the next level by integrating their Spotify Premium service with the preferred chat app, Discord.

Old school gamers may remember using services like TeamSpeak or Ventrilo. They also, invariably, remember having a user keep an open mic with his tunes flowing. Discord is the current generation of gaming chat. It allows you to chat in groups via text or voice to coordinate raids or the hack ‘n slash gameplan for the night. With the Spotify integration, Discord users can share their playlists with their guilds. The track information will even display in the app, so users won’t be inundated with guildies asking, “What song is that?”

Gamers have even more opportunity to enjoy their gameplay if they want to listen different soundtracks. Spotify offers it’s Gaming Hub for intra-gaming musicality.

The opportunities for musical enjoyment during gameplay have expanded. If you or a gaming bud are a Spotify Premium user, check out the Discord integration available now!

Game on.
