Disney and Sony made nice to bring the masked webslinger home.
Earlier, we shared that there was some strife in the friendly neighborhood boardroom. Sony could not agree with Marvel’s parent company Disney, and the fans were going to pay the price by losing Spider-man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The MCU has been the best thing to happen to Spider-man in recent years. Sony’s attempts at films did not compete with the popularity that Disney had with their movies. MCU is unmatched, and Tom Holland is America’s darling. So, it’s great news that the execs have come together to bring the fans what they want.
Spider-man movies planned to continue with or without this deal, and Tom Holland was continuing to portray the character. Now that the partnership is back in play, fans will get to see Spidey a la Holland with all the other characters. So, all the avengers can assemble in the future.
After news broke that Disney and Sony were at a stalemate in negotiations, social media exploded with memes about Spider-man being on the outs. J. Jonah Jameson was thrilled….
The new deal was finalized Thursday night and encompasses Spidey’s appearances in one more Marvel film. The film is set to release in 2021.
