Israeli research company Checkmarkx released their research about Tinder vulnerability that can harm Android and iOS users of the dating app.
The research team found out that almost every hacker can see the app profiles and what they do in the app like: who you loved and who you loved less. The hackers can change your profile pictures, and while the hack can’t steal the users money or ID information, hacker can blackmail users who cheat or any other reason that you use Tinder for.
While no credential theft and no immediate financial impact are involved in this process, an attacker targeting a vulnerable user can blackmail the victim, threatening to expose highly private information from the user’s Tinder profile and actions in the app.
In a few months the EU GDPR rules will take affect and the standard for cyber security will be higher and hopefully breaches like this will be a thing of the past.
