Skyfin Malware Purchases Apps from the Google Play Store

There’s a new type of malware which will secretly purchase apps from the Google Play Store

Say hello to Skyfin. Skyfin is a new malware affecting android devices which will purchase apps from the Google Play Store while hiding them from the user.

Utilizing another malware (Android.DownLoader) to install on devices, users can find themselves victims after downloading apps from third party app stores. Once installed, Skyfin goes to work purchasing and installing apps from the Google Play Store. These apps are downloaded to the download folder, but not installed so as to not alert the user to their existence.

The malware doesn’t stop there though, the app can also simulate clicks on Google AdMob banners, earning the attackers advertising revenue.
