Share Your BlackBerry Story

Story time!

We all have them. It’s how we discovered BlackBerry, and how that discovery turned into a fandom. BlackBerry began as a business model, but quickly took over as a status symbol.¬†Recently, Roy shared his BlackBerry story with us, and I think we should all do the same.

Your BlackBerry story could share the gateway BlackBerry you purchased, and show off any collection you may still have. It may tell how you decided to move from device to device, or if you’ve made a switch in OS platforms.

You can share in any way you like. Roy shared his through video. I plan to do the same before the end of the week. You can also share by leaving it in the comments, or over on the forums, even tweet @UTBBlogs with the hashtag #BlackBerryStory.

There’s so many voices in our community that share different use cases and starting points. I can’t wait to hear yours!

I bought my first BlackBerry years ago at eBay, because I wanted something which was more productive than my iPhone 4, and it had to be secure. It was a torch 9860. Since then I bought several BlackBerry devices, like the Bold 9900, Z10, Z30, Q10, Passport, P9981, P9982 and some older BlackBerry devices for my collection :-) As BlackBerry 10 started I knew, that’s the OS I have waited for. The gestures, the flow, the productivity and the 100% BlackBerry security. I was very excited about BlackBerry 10 and I hoped now the BlackBerry story will come to new glory. But we know it all, that wasn’t the case. Today I’m using a Passport Silver Edition and a Priv. Yes, I carry two devices with me. I don’t want to miss BlackBerry 10, and I will stay with BlackBerry 10 till the end! The Passport carries all my personal data and is my daily driver, and the Priv is used for “social media”. I really hope, BlackBerry will improve their own OS, which is 100% BlackBerry. That’s what BlackBerry addicts want. And I hope sometimes we will see perhaps a BlackBerry 11!

What a great story! I wish I had such an extensive collection.

Once upon a time I went into a carrier store looking for a smartphone.

I saw the 9800 and it looked good.

I left the store a new BlackBerry user.

    The end. o/

Riveting! What made you stick with BlackBerry through the years?

I stayed with BlackBerry for two reasons
        – Everything else is a toy
        – BlackBerry is user-centric
