Rudy Giuliani Makes an Appearance at the BlackBerry Security Summit

Fresh from the GOP convention last night, the Former New York Mayor who was mayor during the tragic 9/11 events, Rudy Giuliani appeared today at the BlackBerry Security Summit, joining BlackBerry CEO John Chen to discuss the state of security in an increasingly Mobile-Driven World.

Giuliani recalled his experience during 9/11 and the role BlackBerry played to keep people connected in a time of crisis, saving lives and enabling him to restore command centers to manage the crisis. He reinforced the need to create solutions that combat the growing number of cyber threats emerging around the world, and how these threats are impacting commercial and national security globally.

I can’t think of anyone better positioned to appreciate the value of BlackBerry and AtHoc in a crisis. The fact that he has given BlackBerry this recognition speaks volumes.

I am a long time BlackBerry user and fan. Beginning with the 7520, I have recognized the value of subtle productivity enhancements in BlackBerry devices for business communication and have never since strayed. Even when the iPhone took the market by storm, I was unimpressed, because it did nothing to help my business needs. Currently enjoying my one handed dream phone, the Classic! BB10 with a toolbelt! Today I contribute to UTB whenever I feel that I can help enlighten someone on the benefits of using BlackBerry over any other platform.

I appreciate that Giuliani acknowledged the significant role BlackBerry played in keeping people connected during the 9/11 tragedy, but also mentioned in this post is the fact that Giuliani was fresh off attendance at the Republican National Convention. I’m not sure why that detail was included. It adds absolutely nothing to the substance of the post and unnecessarily opens the door to the potential of political rancor. In response to this post, I noticed someone has already replied with a Giuliani/Trump affirmation. Unless a political issue relates to BlackBerry in some way, I hope this space on the web will remain a politics-free zone.

Are you going to be ok? I apologize if facts disturb you, but you’re the only one suggesting that fact has anything to to with politics. He mentioned it himself in his speech! To me it demonstrated how passionate Giuliani is about BlackBerry, to show up for this summit with a hoarse voice from the convention, security is as important to him than politics! Perhaps you need to find a safe space where facts of life won’t upset you.

Uhm… it’s where he came from.

It will remain a politics free space on the Web if people don’t bring politics here. Lol
