Reverend Grim Preaches… Protection – or Lack of it…

Here we are again, another chilly day – but the sun has been out and it got me in the mood for a bit of a spring clean!

But not the house, my aching bones won’t be having that right now!

My PC got a clean up and tweaked here and there!

I decided to update my AVG Tune up, as my AVG antivirus was due for renewal I went the whole hog – I’m glad I did, my PC is 100% optimized now, all defragmented, cache’s cleared, startup and shutdown sped up, browsers clear, old shortcuts deleted and duplicate files found and disposed of!

2015-07-19-image-5Do you know who’s lurking in the dark recess of your devices?

But I feel a little bit conned…

I’m not able to use these amazing programs to their full potential!

Why?

Because I own a BlackBerry and don’t need to!

I couldn’t believe it when AVG started asking me to plug in my Android devices and my Apple devices to be scanned and checked for malware, viruses and apps that could be running and causing drain or working maliciously in the background and then install the AVG app to keep them optimized!

I’m paying extra for something that I don’t need because I get it as standard on my Z10! Same as you do on your BlackBerry devices, a thing we like to call here at the United Temple of BlackBerry…

SECURITY!

It’s bad enough we can get our PC/Laptop looked at, thieved or – worse still – destroyed by a virus. Yes, there are a lot of free antivirus programs out there, personally I prefer top-notch security so I pay for mine (Pro version) and get a lot more extras and protection/tweaks, but honestly, how many Android/Apple users know that they need it on their phones/tablets too? I decided to ask a few people who have these inferior devices and the answers I got were scary!

I asked two iPhone users, one of which I didn’t get any sense from because his signal kept dropping out… no surprise there… the other one said “I don’t need anything like that, Apple are immune to viruses, no one could ever infiltrate Apple computers or phones”

OH MY GOD! Where the hell have you been the last few years? Enough said on the Apple front I think, someone needs that wool sheared from their eyes!

And then I tried the Androidians… Not much different there I’m afraid, a mixed bag of answers was given…

“I can’t need it really, they didn’t tell me I needed it when I bought the phone”

“If it was needed then they would have put it on the phone as a standard app”

“It’s not going to affect me, it’s only people stupid enough to download app’s that aren’t legit”

“My Samsung isn’t rooted, you need it if your phone is rooted”

and then…

“My phones rooted, I’ll be OK”

42056_01_coolpad-builds-android-backdoor-devices-sold-china_fullDo You really know whats in your device?

After a very lengthy discussion with all these (for want of a better word) STUPID people, some of them have said they will “Look into it” even after I said there is a free Android version of AVG for android.

The one thing they still don’t seem to grasp though is that they needn’t worry themselves with these things, they can have a new up-to-date award-winning handset that has stupid apps to make farty noises, they can play Candy Crush till they’re blind if wanted, they can also have a whole bunch of extra stuff free of charge AND security free of charge!

How?

BlackBerry 10 of course!

The only sensible choice in this day and age of internet scams and theft is the one that 99% of the people reading this have made, #iChoseBlackBerry10!

If you look after your PC with an antivirus and for some unknown reason don’t want to come #BacktoBlack, then at least get the protection for your phone, after all, do you want some weirdo to get into your bank account, emails or those photos of your kids that you still haven’t transferred to the PC or printed yet?

You all know the answer, the sensible choice, so why don’t you do the right thing and look after yourself and let BlackBerry look after all your important stuff for you?

What we need now is a BlackBerry PC… Mr Chen! If your reading this then catch me at C000117D3 @CRAPPLEBASHING or on the forum’s or email revgrim@utbblogs.com – I’m full of ideas for you!

So, until next time…

Rev Grim is outta here!

And Rev Grim is back…

Bye bye androidThats it Android, Pack your bags, we don’t want you!

Do you remember a few weeks ago Amazon App Store were giving away some apps? Well, they did, and one of those apps was AVG Mobile, well, I downloaded it onto Mrs Grim’s (Shudder) Android Tablet, now, seeing as she only watches Sky Go, BBC iPlayer (those sort of streaming things) and videos on it or ocasionally has a look on ebay for bits I thought it would be clear of stuff… That’s right, how wrong could your Reverend Grim be? It found two problems! Obviously I set AVG into action to correct these things immediately and now its as safe as it could be (Not that I trust it still) but it just goes to show, Android is dirty even when you don’t download stuff left, right and center! Can you imagine what could have been found on it?

I know this is an old article but when the first few lines read…

In a recent research by the cyber security firm RISKIQ, it has been found that the 11% of android banking apps contains malwares or suspicious binaries.
RiskIQ CEO Elias Manousos said, “These findings show that criminals are using look-a-like banking apps to distribute malware and capture data on the device in order to commit crimes.”
You reall should sit back and think about it… just come #BacktoBlack!

Come on Mr Chen, my my mental health… we want PlayBook 2! NO MORE HAVING TO SUFFER INSECURE ANDROID!

And this time, I’m really outta here!

Reverend Grim

Who is Reverend Grim? Not many people know. He has a channel on BBMC C000117D3 where he smites the rotten Apple. He has a photographic channel too C0045B753 seeing as he's actually a photographer. All we know is that he preaches the safe, secure word... BLACKBERRY and BB10! He will welcome anyone #BacktoBlack and into the United Temple of BlackBerry for a sermon and a cup of tea, even Brad who doesn't understand a word he says!
