Pet Sematary Returns

“The ground is bad.”

Stephen King is a blockbuster hitmaker, and Pet Sematary hit all the right chords when the movie adaptation released in 1989. Based on King’s novel, the movie depicted a family that suffered incomparable loss. With a twist of the supernatural, that loss was lessened, but terror ensued. There’s always a trade-off.

Paramount Pictures brings this tale back to life in a new retelling of the King classic. The trailer shows a lot of similarities between the two films. Even the actor playing the young Gage looks eerily similar to his 1989 counterpart. John Lithgow (Twilight Zone: The Movie, 3rd Rock from the Sun) lends his gravitas and star power to the film in the role of Jud Crandall, portrayed originally by the iconic Fred Gwynne (The Munsters).

Pet Sematary comes to theaters in April 2019.
