This ransomware takes a comical twist.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is quite the popular game! You nearly can’t escape it. And there’s a new malware making it’s rounds that is attempting to ensure that. This new malware is a ransomware, which attacks PC gamer’s computers, encrypting the file. But the ransom which is demanded, isn’t monetary.
When the user’s computer is infected, the malware goes to work encrypting the computer’s files, as ransomware will tend to do. All files will be appended with a .PUBG extension. The user is then presented with a ransom screen. The ransom screen gives the following message.
Your files, images, musics, documents are Encrypted!
Your files is encrypted by PUBG Ransomware!
but don’t worry! It is not hard to unlock it.
I don’t want money!
Just play PUBG 1Hours!
Or Restore is [ s2acxx56a2sae5fjh5k2gb5s2e ]
Yes, that’s it. There is no real ransom being asked for other than the user play the game for an hour. And if the user doesn’t really want to play the game? The malware creator was nice enough to provide the decryption code.
While this malware is humorous in nature, it should still provide a warning to anyone that finds themselves infected by it. This malware is fairly basic. If you find yourself falling victim to this malware, you can be sure you are vulnerable to much more malicious attacks.
