Never download PC software from unknown sources.
A new attack on personal computers is here, and it’s more sophisticated than other attacks. The new Ransomware attack is hitting more than 20 countries around the globe and his name is KeyPass.
Most known infections are so far found in Brazil and Vietnam but others have felt the attack also. The infection is a simple installer of PC software that the victims installed and the attackers can then manually take charge over the infected PC.
With KeyPass the attackers can customize the encryption keys by changing the module and parameters, that’s how the attackers encrypt their ransom note with a text file, and how they hijack the infected PC.
The attackers ask for $300 of the victim but only if they contact them in the first 72 hours. The identity of the attackers is yet to be known, but they use email addresses based in Switzerland and India.
