BlackBerry’s limited edition Passport in red is now available in the U.K., almost three months after making its debut in the U.S. BlackBerry says it’s available in limited quantities, but you can currently get it from a number of different retailers.
Aside from its fancy paint job, the red Passport is identical to the original black and white models. It has the same stunning 4.5-inch display with a super-sharp 1440×1440 resolution at 531 pixels-per-inch, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 32GB of storage as standard, and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization.
There’s also a microSD card slot, a giant battery that promises up to 30 hours of use in between charges, and the Passport ships with BlackBerry’s brand new 10.3.1 software pre-installed.
The Passport is by far BlackBerry’s most impressive smartphone to date, so if you can adapt to its slightly odd form factor — and BlackBerry 10, of course — then it’s well worth a spot in your pocket. Particularly if you like your smartphones to be bright red.
If you’re in the U.K., you can get the limited edition device from Amazon, Clove, and Unlocked Mobiles unlocked and SIM-free, and from Mobile Phones Direct on contract with EE, Vodafone, Orange, and T-Mobile. Prices start at around £525 (approx. $808), while the black and white models are just £380 (approx. $585).
