Apple’s newest is keeping with an explosive tradition.
One of Apple’s newest models has exploded in a user’s pocket. While an exploding iPhone is far from a rare occurrence, this is the first reported case of an iPhone XS Max ending it’s life in a flaming fashion.
The explosive circumstance occurred on December 12th in Columbus Ohio. The user J. Hillard. Hillard was on lunch break when he first noticed a strange smell, and a large amount of heat that was burning his skin. When green and yellow smoke began bursting from his phone ran from the room.
“Left no other option, I had to exit the room since there was a female in the break room with me and remove my pants.” a very polite Hillard explained, “I ran to the boardroom where I got my shoes and pants off as fast as possible. A VP of our company put the fire out with a fire extinguisher because he heard me yelling.”
After the fire was extinguished, Hillard was left with a burned out iPhone, ruined pants and shoes, and a burned buttocks. But his ordeal didn’t end there.
Hillard went to an Apple store for a resolution, where they took his phone and left him waiting for 40 minutes. “After receiving this cold treatment with zero engagement from the team while waiting, I found a manager to locate the employee with my phone.” Hillard said, “I was given no other option and was told that nothing could be done for me in store if they could not keep the damaged phone. I asked about my clothing and they told me that they could make no promises until the phone was captured. I left one hour before the store closed and unsatisfied with the customer service in store, I took back the damaged phone and returned home.”
After another day of dealing with Apple over the phone, Hillard was offered a replacement phone. Hillard does not sound very satisfied with the customer service he received from Apple and is considering legal action.
