The BlackBerry Z10 is a WONDERFUL phone. When it was launched I immediately got one and it is still amazing by today’s standards. I love it’s form factor, how it feels in the hand, it’s usability, it’s clean, sweet graphics and just how darn sexy it is.
It’s a phone to fall in love with. And I did.
However, it came with one drawback.
It came with an 1800mAh battery.
As the iPhone 5s came with such a thing I’m sure BlackBerry (at that time) thought this was ok AND they made it removable (as opposed to the iPhone) so you can whip out a spare battery from the, also very sexy, battery pack, if you are a power user (my Z10 battery would give up the ghost around 5PM – I get a lot of messages!) and you’ll get through a day.
BUT – BlackBerry optimised the hell out of the OS for the Z10. And BB10 devices don’t have a load of crap continuously running in the background. So,a social Z10 user will, pretty much, get at least a working day out of it.
Unlike an iPhone.
Which also packs the, er, power of a 1800mAh battery but this one is non-removable – in other words, you can’t swap it for a fresh one, you’ve GOTTA FIND A SOCKET – FAST!
Because it’s not very good. Not very good at all. To the point where the term ‘Wall Huggers’ becomes apt.
The iPhone, you see, isn’t very ‘mobile’ at all. Due to it’s appalling battery life it’s practically a mobile landline, needing to be plugged in wherever you go next, just to keep going…
Great news then from our favourite iPhonian comedy website (and home of our Resident iDiot, Jonathan Geller), BGR that the iPhone 6 it would seem is going to pack a beefier punch in the battery department than ever before!
WARNING – EVEN THE TITLE WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH
This is the best iPhone 6 news we’ve heard so far
A report last week revealed iPhone 6 battery details, suggesting that Apple’s 2014 iPhone models may offer similar or even better battery performance as last year’s iPhones, as they will have slightly bigger batteries. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 was expected to have a battery capacity of 1,800 mAh to 1,900 mAh, while the phablet version of the handset was said to have a 2,500 mAh battery. Now, French publication Nowhereelse has obtained an image of the purported 4.7-inch iPhone 6’s battery, which may confirm that the battery has a capacity in line with previous reports.
The image shows a battery assembled in China by Huizhou Desay Battery, which has 1,810 mAh capacity. What’s interesting about the battery maker is that Desay was mentioned in a recent report as one of Apple’s iPhone 6 battery suppliers that’s able to meet the company’s size requirements for this component.
This could be particularly good news in light of the fact that improved battery life, not screen size, is users’ most most sought-after feature in the iPhone 6, according to a recent survey.
The iPhone 6 models to be launched this year are expected to be just 7mm thin, with Apple said to have placed orders to battery suppliers for 2mm-thick batteries, which are one-third thinner than the batteries found in the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.
They made it an 1810mAh battery!
They added 10mAh!
On a BIGGER PHONE!
That needs more power to operate…
And has the same old crap running in the background draining your amazing iPhone 6 in 30 seconds flat.
But at least it’s REALLY THIN.
iPhonians, let me put this in context for you.
My BlackBerry Z30 runs all the apps you could ever need, doesn’t allow crap in the background and has a 2880mAh battery using an OPTIMISED OS – BlackBerry 10.
Which leads to a battery life of between one and a half to two DAYS.
Not one and a half to two HOURS.
And you’re going to pay HOW MUCH for THAT???
I think it’s about time you added in the price of the electricity you’re going to need to run that thing to the already hugely inflated price it will be on release.
When you do so you’ll realise that there’s only really one SMART choice of SMART phone out there…
And it’s not an iPhone…
It’s a BlackBerry.
