You’re never too old for this cartoon.
Invader Zim first aired on Nickelodeon in 2001. The series only lasted for one season. Completed episodes of a second season were left unaired, only to appear on a DVD three years later. Then, in 2006, the Nicktoons Network began airing the episodes again. The little invader who hadn’t found the respect he wanted in the series, nor in the ratings, began to pick up a fan following. And now, Invader Zim is returning with a whole new made for television movie, Enter the Florpus.
Attendees at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a brand new trailer for the brand new movie. Series creator Jhonen Vazquez is reuniting with original voice talent Richard Horvitz (ZIM), Rikki Simons (GIR), Andy Berman (Dib), Melissa Fahn (Gaz) and a host of other’s returning from the original series.
The plot synopsis sounds like exactly what we want from Invader Zim. Zim discovers that that the Almighty Tallest leaders won’t be coming to his invaded Earth, which makes him lose his own confidence. This of course gives Dib the opportunity to attack. And Gir rides a tiny donkey. What else could we ask for?
It’s great to see a new movie, but how about an ongoing series?
