Avengers: Infinity War isn’t slowing down in it’s second week.
This is one of the most anticipated films of recent decades, and the numbers are showing that people keep coming back for more. Infinity War reportedly hit the billion dollar mark this weekend, making it the fastest movie to ever reach that global milestone.
The latest in the Avengers universe has been bashing down doors and creating new records since it opened last week. It had the 2nd biggest second weekend, domestically, coming in behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This new record includes the biggest release ever in Russia, and the film hasn’t even touched down yet in China.
Disney and Marvel are clearly a well-suited match. The success of Infinity War helped Disney break it’s own record, already reaching $3 billion for 2018.
Marvel fans continue to anticipate each new release, including Deadpool 2 on May 18.
The yet to be titled Avengers 4 is currently slated for theaters May 3, 2019.
Critics continue to theorize about superhero fatigue, expecting fans to tire of the saturation of these action genre flicks, but Infinity War showed the market continues to be strong. The geeks may indeed inherit the earth.
