The Google+ breach was quietly closed a few months ago, the service will be closing up as well.
I do not know how many of you will be overwhelmed or surprised by this news. Google has announced that it closing down the social network Google + launched in 2011; due to lack of adoption by mainstream users. The news of the closing the service comes on the same day that the WSJ finds that for 3 years between 2015 and March 2018 there was a loophole that allowed developers access to user information.
According to Google, they do not know of the exploitation of the breach by developers, but the fact that all the details of the users were available to the developers is disturbing, Google closed the breach quietly without an update of the media, and apparently also knew about the noise that will be made especially in light of the events of Cambridge e-analytics and Facebook.
The difference is that Google + is considered a pretty dry platform and has a total of about 500,000 users. Also, with over 90% of the activity taking 5 seconds each time. Google had launched Google+ in 2011 to try to compete with Facebook without much success.
