New Title in the Lord of the Rings Saga is set to release later this year.
Fans of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are anticipating a new book that returns them to the immersive world of Middle Earth, created by J.R.R. Tolkien. The land of hobbits and elves, wizards and orcs, comes back in The Fall of Gondolin.
Gondolin is said to be one of Tolkien’s earliest works in the Lord of the Rings universe. This newest release was edited posthumously by the son of the author, Christopher Tolkien. The story follows the epic quest narrative of the elf, Tuor, as he searches for the elven city of Gondolin. Gondolin serves as an introduction to orcs and balrogs, some of Tolkien’s more fearsome creatures, and is said to contain one of the largest battle scenes in Tolkien’s library.
Tolkien’s world of Middle Earth has been a pre-requisite for any fan of the fantasy genre. It helped create the model for the quest-based category and for the standard beastiary of modern day books, movies, and games. It saw a renaissance in recent years with Peter Jackson’s depiction of the LOTR trilogy bringing the universe into an even more mainstream fanbase.
The Fall of Gondolin will hit shelves in August.
