Germany : Apple has removed older devices from the shelves

Court ruled that Apple infringed on some of Qualcomm’s rights.

Not a very Merry Christmas for Apple in Germany as the court in Munich ruled that they infringed some of Qualcomm’s spiritual rights. At least until Apple appeals to change this decision, they have removed all iPhone 7 and iPhone 8s from the shelfves in Germany.

Apple violated a patent that related to how the device manages its energy, and the court said that its only valid to older iPhone devices, so Apple can continue to sell the newer devices.

The report also mentions that Apple removed the devices only from their chain stores and not from cellular network stores around the country.

The dispute between Apple and Qualcomm started because of Apple, as they accused the chip manufacturer they demand high prices in Europe for routers. Qualcomm answered with their own claims about Apple, and now they won the first round.
