Friday the 13th: The Game comes to the Nintendo Switch
It seemed that Jason was finally dead. Continued production of the Friday the 13th game came to a sudden halt thanks to a lawsuit filed by the franchise’s original creator. Screenwriter Victor Miller had started a lawsuit to gain the rights to the characters, which put any further productions using these characters on hold.
Friday the 13th: The Game had began as a Kickstarter project, and was quite successful. The game was released, looked amazing, and the creators had kept a steady flow of new downloadable content. That flow halted once Miller filed suit.
Now, the game has a chance for new life, with it’s upcoming spring release for the Nintendo Switch. Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Switch Edition will include all downloadable content from the previous editions excluding the Kickstarter backer exclusives, most notable, and sadly, that means the Savini Jason will not be there on the switch. Even more sad, is that what arrives on the game, will be as far as it goes.
Even though the game is arriving on a new platform, developer Gun Media is still limited by the ongoing lawsuit. No further downloadable content will be made available as the lawsuit continues. Still, it is an amazing looking game, and I am sure there are many Switch owners that would like to run around a virtual camp slashing virtual campers.
