DON'T set your iPhone to 1 January 1970 or you'll break it - Zensen - 19-02-2016

If I had an iPhone I'd do it :p just to show how ridiculous Apple software is. This will go down well like the text message debacle. I'd have held it wrong, and have my phone magically explode in my pocket.

Have my maps app direct me to the wrong place and perhaps easily bend it to give it a new look. When all is said and done I'm sure I'll enjoy having my personal stuff shared 'publicly' on iCloud whilst knowing that all the content I've bought isn't legally mine and I'll need a court order to persuade apple

A fake advertisement claims that changing the date on your iPhone to 1 January 1970 will give you a retro Apple design - it doesn't.

Any iOS device with a 64 bit processor will be affected.

So the iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus, the iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 3 and 4, and the sixth-generation iPod Touch.x

Blogs and all about this. Personally don't have an iPhone, so really don't care if the iDiots bricked their phone.

What is funny is there will be some idiot that will read about this and then try it to see if it is true. Then, when it does brick, will complain.

Thank heavens for BlackBerry and phones that just "do". (except when the browser has to read an embedded pdf file) ;)

You know I have to try this on a store unit now!  Just to be sure that this story is legit, of course. :Wink I sure wouldn't want an iPhone not to work less than it already does.

In US you could very likely get charged with destruction of property.
Though it sounds like fun, not really a good idea.
