Easy Peasy, it's Sachesi - razrrob - 18-03-2015

Here's a quick primer of using Sachesi to do a non-destructive OS update-

1. Download the OS version you want via one of the hosting sites (ex: MEGA, BITCASA, etc). DO NOT UNZIP the downloaded file!!,
2. Open the most current version of Sachesi (it can be downloaded here),
3. Click on the ‘Install; tab of Sachesi,
4. Put your BlackBerry in Airplane mode
5. Connect your device via USB and wait for the screen that shows your currently installed applications, close LINK if it opens,
6. Drag the recently downloaded OS zip file directly onto the ‘Install’ tab and drop the .zip file,
7. Wait for the process to start (it may take a few minutes so be patient),
8. DO NOT unplug your USB cable until you phone has rebooted or bad things could happen (BRICK).

That's it!

No loss of data, no backing up data and while it's fairly goofproof (even a Monkey can do it) I would be remiss if I didn't include the usual caveats that you proceed at your own risk and UTB takes no responsibility should you brick 'your precious'.

For my next trick I want to learn how to create a Blitz file from the 'core', 'radio', and 'debrick' files. Once I do that I will post another 'how To'

I always go an extra step. Put phone in Airplane Mode. Don't need to get notifications while upgrading.

Also be sure to be patient. Sometimes sachesi looks like it's hung and doing nothing..that doesn't mean it's done or crashed...wait until the log says 'done' and the file count reaches it's max...

And a Blitz zip file is easy to make.

Same waiting to reboot. Could take 15 minutes or more.

D1ck,

Can you point me in the right direction so I can make a step-by-step?
