Felicia Day Wants to Boost Your Creativity

Day announces her newest book.

The geek collective got a bit of a buzz today as Queen Geek, Felicia Day, announced she is releasing a new book later this year.

If the name rings a bell, think Supernatural and The Guild. The actor, author, and producer has been working in media for years. From Buffy, the Vampire Slayer to voicing video game characters, Day created a niche for herself across the fandoms.

Day published her first book, You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost), in 2015. It detailed her life on the outside of the mainstream. Following the release, Day captured inspiration to raise money for an anti-bullying cause. She designed and sold tshirts with the phrase “Embrace Your Weird,” encouraging others to accept what makes them unique. Now, the mantra has become a book.

Embrace Your Weird: A Guided Journal for Facing Your Fears and Unleashing Creativity is billed as part journal, part workbook. It promises to help boost creativity and inspire. The announcement describes its purpose as:

Unique techniques to vanquish enemies of creativity like: anxiety, fear, procrastination, perfectionism, criticism, and jealousy

So many creators are stymied by these enemies. Even blogging can seem like a daunting task without a spark of inspiration. The journal markets itself as an interactive tool to ignite that spark and keep it burning bright. Day encourages readers to find their creativity, cultivate, and share it.

Embrace Your Weird is available now for pre-order. Published by Gallery Books, under the umbrella of Simon & Schuster, the book will release in stores, audio, and ebook formats on October 1, 2019.
