Alphabet’s Executive Chairman will be stepping down in January.
Eric Schmidt, the Executive Chairman of Alphabet, will be stepping down from his post in January. Schmidt joined Google just three years after it’s inception in 2001. Ten years later, Schmidt was the Chairman.
In 2015, when Google restructured, and there was suddenly a parent company named Alphabet, Schmidt was placed as Executive Chairman.
BlackBerry users will remember Eric Schmidt as the Google executive that was widely known for using a BlackBerry even as Google was growing the Android platform.
Schmidt will remain on the board as a technical adviser, and it is planned that a non-executive chairman shall take his position.
