December Update Rolling Out With Lots of Added Features

As we reported HERE last week, the December update build AAR9?0 is rolling out and KEYᵒⁿᵉ  users will be happy to see some great add-ons that were previously only available for the BlackBerry Motion.

Apart from the actual December security patches, the changelog also lists improved OS stability. And now for the additional features. For starters,  the Locker app is new and a very good feature that keeps your private pictures and files hidden from prying eyes. When in the camera app, simply swipe on the fingerprint sensor (space bar) and it will take a picture that is stored in the Locker app and is no visible to others. You can also add videos and files to the app for safe keeping.

Next up we have the convenience key upgrade that allows for three different profiles, Car, Meeting and Home Profiles. You can also add app shortcuts to each profile

The camera app now has an added scanner mode to quickly scan business cards, whiteboard and projector, which will then quickly identity text and give you the option to save it as a contact. This is a very handy function indeed.

To access the scanner function, open the camera app and down the bottom tool bar on the right hand side you will see the scanner icon, once you open it you will see several options at the top. Tapping the business card icon will open up another set of options to select business cards, PPT, whiteboard and documents.

A new gesture has been added. Swipe down from the top of any screen with three fingers to instantly apply the BlackBerry Privacy Shade. Another nifty little feature.

And last but not least, additional support for Bluetooth headset battery indicator.

So overall,  this is a great little update to get, especially for KEYᵒⁿᵉ  owners. Have you noticed anything else that’s different in this update?  Let us know in the comments below.
