Chris Hadfield, BlackBerry User Extraordinaire

Being a proud Canadian and proud BlackBerry user, I was very excited by one of Chris Hadfield’s recent tweets.

Commander Hadfield is currently on “An expedition that blends comedy, music, science and art, created on an icebreaker heading through the Northwest Passage to be seen by millions online.” He tweeted out a picture of icebergs using his #BlackBerry and binoculars. He proudly let the world (he does have 1.65m followers on Twitter) know that he did it with his BlackBerry!

For those of you that don’t know who Chris Hadfield is, he is a Canadian icon, and has done more than I can ever say but is most known for being the Commander of the International Space Station; his amazing pictures he took from space; the books that he produced after; and his spellbinding rendition of Space Oddity by David Bowie (while in space). Check it out here.

Commander Chris Hadfield is an amazing guy, a tremendous role model. Just imagine if he’s a spokesperson for BlackBerry! I urge everyone to read his book, if you haven’t already, “An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth”! Thanks for posting, Kevin.

His books are inspirational and amazing reads. I agree with you sologtr. Cheers!

Many years ago, while covering the launch of a Shuttle, I actually met this guy at the cape. To be honest I had no idea who he was ( he hadn’t flown yet) and I was introduced to him as on of Canada’s upcoming astronauts. Just a hand shake and a ‘Hi, how are you?’ Nothing special ( although I’m sure he will remember it always!!!!)

    A BlackBerry man! Small wonder I liked him . . .. . .. .

I think that having Hadfield as the BlackBerry spokesman is a fantastic idea! I wonder if anyone at head office has enough get up and go to call him and get the ball rolling.

Chris Hadfield revolutionized the interaction between astronauts and the public, as well as the teaching of astro sciences. He’s an innovator and a real inspiration. He would be an awesome spokesman for BlackBerry.
