BlackBerry/QNX and Renesas collaborate on autonomous driving platform

Today at the CES®, BlackBerry/QNX announced a collaboration with Renesas (the top provider of microprocessors in the world). Their collaboration used a 2017 Lincoln MKZ to prove that autonomous driving can be accomplished using “currently available hardware and software.” The Lincoln was driven on a test track to demonstrate that it could “detect obstacles on the road, recognize stop signs and cross traffic at intersections, and perform automatic lane changes, all in a safe and secure manner.”

John Wall, Senior Vice President and head of BlackBerry/QNX stated, “The collaboration with Renesas supports BlackBerry’s mission to accelerate the commercial realization of connected and autonomous driving vehicles by developing production-ready software independently and in collaboration with partners”
