BlackBerry Inducted, Again, into Technology’s Fast 50


For the past 19 years, this year being the twentieth anniversary, Technology’s Fast 50 has recognized companies for their contribution to innovation. The selected are given tribute for hardware, software, telecommunications, emerging technology, and digital media innovation.

BlackBerry has made the list for 16 of the twenty years of the award’s existence.

As storied as our history has been, we are only just getting started and have even more important work ahead of us. Today we are fulfilling our mission to secure and mobilize the Enterprise of Things by protecting all of the endpoints so that we can help to safeguard our connected future.

Here’s to the past, present and future!

This is not an easy list to make. Requirements are as follows ;

  • To be in business for a minimum of four years (on or prior to December 31, 2012)
  • Must be located in Canada in Canada or be Canadian controlled, management and research and development teams must also be also located in Canada
  • Generating significant proportion of operating revenue via proprietary technology and/or intellectual property
  • Have a  minimum revenue of  $50,000 in 2013 and $5,000,000 in 2016.
  • Invest a minimum of five percent of gross revenues in R&D
  • Participant in one of the following, Emerging technologies, Hardware/semiconductor, Software, Telecommunications/wireless, Digital media
  • Invest a minimum of five percent of gross revenues in R&D
