BlackBerry Announcement – Ralph Pini to Replace Ron Louks as Head of Devices

Today BlackBerry announced that Ralph Pini would be serving as new Chief Operating Officer and General Manager for Devices. Mr Pini stated that his “initial focus will be on customers, carriers and partners as each is a crucial component to achieving device profitability, while also expanding distribution beyond BlackBerry’s traditional channels.” This seems to be a continuation of John Chen’s goal of getting BlackBerry away from the Carrier stranglehold and into more of a ‘direct sales’ model.

Prior to this Mr Pini was President and CEO at Paratek Microwave Inc., a wholly owned division of BlackBerry since 2012.

Let’s please give a warm welcome to Ralph Pini!
