Recently, some users have found themselves logged out of BBM with no way to get back in. Understandably, this has led to frustration for these users. Most of the affected users which we know have already found the issue to be repaired and are happily back to full functionality.
BBM has asked us to share the following message with users as to the issue.
A message from BBM:
We understand that some users were unfortunately locked out of their BBM accounts last week.
The cause of this was a Data Split between Consumer Users and Enterprise Users of BBM. Users that were primarily affected were either previously BlackBerry Enterprise users, or had previously signed up for BlackBerry Enterprise services.
Presently, if you are an affected user, please send your BBM PIN/BBID/email address associated with your BBID to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will work to restore your account as soon as possible.
We thank you again for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.
There you have it. The unfortunate issue was due to the splitting of the databases which we were forewarned about after the split which made it impossible to move back from cross platform BBM to BB10 BBM. Unfortunately, some users who had previously used BBM Enterprise or Protect were unfortunately locked out. From what we can tell, most users have already received the fix, however, if you were affected and are still not able to log in to BBM, please email the support address above so that they can work to get you back up and running.
