We were lucky enough to sit with BBM CEO, Matthew Talbot and we asked him about the new features that BBM and EMTEK brought into the Indonesian Market and Nigeria. Talbot was very excited to say that those features will not stay local and they are working hard to bring them to the global market.
Emtek is the now in a long term partnership with BlackBerry for BBM on the consumer side. We should say from now on because we have two BBM segments, one for consumer, and one for enterprise. Talbot mentioned that in today’s usage from consumers they prefer to stay in one app for their content needs and BBM intends to bring them a full experience and will keep bring more features into the platform.
If you’ve asked yourself why you still can’t have all the new amazing features in your country, there couple of reasons why. First BBM wanted to get the right model in place and then take it global. Of course with some content, there are digital rights to be dealt with as well.
Talbot said :
“We already started to rolling out some of those services in Africa, specifically in Nigeria. But there are number of global content and services that you will see in the first quarter of next year”
Talbot mentioned that we may see some transportation apps integrated into BBM and also some sports apps.
BBM is going to lead the messaging world as a content provider. When you can play, read your news or do shopping from inside your BBM app, you really don’t need anything else.
We at UTB very excited about what BBM will bring us at 2017.
