Welcome to a slightly different, slightly improved UTB homepage.
A short while ago, we ran a reader poll asking what readers would like to see improved around the halls of UTB, and today’s changes are a direct result of that poll.
We understand that people have different interests, and may want to get right to a certain type of post, without having to deal with scrolling through different types of posts. We decided to make this easy for our readers.
You will now find our home page segregated in to different sections, as follows;
BlackBerry: This is the category in which all company news shall be found. If it’s QNX, Good, BES, or anything that has to do with BlackBerry that doesn’t fall within the other categories, you shall find it here. Any site related news will also be found here. While we’re not BlackBerry, posts about our site are few and far between, and we like being in the company of BlackBerry, so our news shall sneak in to this category.
BB10: A special home on the web for the BB10 fans. Any BB10 news, app updates or reviews, any information on BB10 devices or accessories, shall be found here.
BlackDroid: Yeah, we know Android by BlackBerry is not called BlackDroid, but doesn’t it sound cool? Until we get an official name from BlackBerry for Android powered BlackBerry devices, this category shall remain named BlackDroid. Just like the BB10 category, any OS, app, device, or accessory posts having to do with BlackBerry Android can be found here.
BBM: The BlackBerry product that spans all OS’s and devices. BBM doesn’t want it’s own category, it requires it. Anything having to do with BBM, no matter what OS it is found on, will live here.
Mobile Landscape: And here it is. The catch-all for all those other platforms out there. News of iPhone’s blowing up? Find it here. News of malware infecting those Android phones that weren’t lucky enough to have a BlackBerry secured OS? Read about it here. Windows Phone, well, there may be something to write about someday, and we’ll do it here.
Our hope, is that with the new organization, users shall have an easier time finding what is of interest to them, without a thumb sprain from all the scrolling. Our hope is to be the number one BlackBerry site for BlackBerry fans. Let the other sites have the users, we want the fans. And if they are using BB10 or BlackDroid (I love that name) or both, our goal is to have a place for them. And now, unlike Bono, they will be able to find what they’re looking for.
Be sure to drop us a comment and let us know what you think of the new layout.
