Fellow BlackBerrians, here is another positive endorsement of BlackBerry and the BES 10 MDM solution. This time it is from UK Law Firm Clyde and Co.
Just to give you a little bit of a background, Clyde and Co is an international law firm with more than 1,400 employees in 33 countries on 6 continents. It has a solid reputation for its work in emerging markets, being the largest international firm in the Middle East and having a rapidly expanding network across Asia, Latin America and Africa. Among its client base are corporations, financial institutions, private individuals, and governments.
In other words, this law firm is no small fry and is a big player in its own domain and they have adopted BlackBerry 10 devices and BES10 as their Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution.
From watching the above video clip, they have emphasized the following points from an enterprise user perspective
- BlackBerry provides security, which is critical for any enterprise dealing with sensitive and confidential information. It ensures that communication between the law firm and its clients are fully secure without any confidential information being leaked.
- The BB10 operating system and devices from their perspective is intuitive and very easy to use.
- The BB10 devices offer instant and reliable communications. Especially when using BBM or email.
- From their IT group’s perspective, the BlackBerry 10 enterprise solution allows the seamless integration of their enterprise app store with BES 10 suite of applications.
- The BlackBerry 10 enterprise solution allows them to be mobile and to conduct their business anywhere.
- On BB10 devices, they can use email the same was as if they were in the office by their desk. And this includes being able to deal with attached documents.
* Being able to deal with attached documents to an email is still one thing that IOS has not yet fully mastered and is still a problem nearly 8 years after its launch *
As of December 2013, there were 30,000 BES10 server installations, both commercial and on a trial basis and Clyde & Co is just one of the many companies that have adopted BES10 as their MDM solution. From their answers below, demonstrates why it is no secret that BES controls approximately 62% of the MDM market and have issued over 1.2 million licenses.
Aaron Donaldson, 3rd line Support Team Leader, Clyde and Co LLP
“One of the challenges that we face everyday is security. Especially from my perspective as well, we need to make sure that our clients feel safe that they can trade with us without any information leaking out”
“Our BlackBerry 10 environment is important for us. One of the key benefits for BES 10 is that we now have a holistic view over all of our BES environments, no matter where we are. Being a law firm, we’re 24/7. We don’t ever close and we have to offer support so it is essential that we have that ability. We deal with other solutions for other devices, however our users tell us that if you want the full package, the end-to-end enterprise solution, BlackBerry is the only way to go.”
Jan Holmes, IT Training Manager, Clyde & Co LLP
“My Z10 is integration into my life completely. With Clyde and Co it means I can work when I am going to and from the office. When I am at meetings, it means that I can be online as much or as little as I need to be. We can use our BlackBerry to BBM and we can keep in touch with people at anytime. We need to be instant in our communications and we can be when we have BlackBerry”
Michael Swangard, Senior Equity Partner, Clyde & Co LLP
“The biggest advantage is the ability to use email in the same way I use email when I am sitting at my desk, and that’s key. And then within the email being able to deal with documents that are often attached. The interface on the BlackBerry devices is fantastic. It’s intuitive, seamless and I’ve adapted to it very very easily”
Aaron Donaldson, 3rd line Support Team Leader, Clyde and Co LLP
“The Clyde & Co App Store is part of the BES 10 suite and it enables us to pick certain applications. BigHand is one of the main applications we use on the BlackBerry. It enables out lawyers to dictate anywhere in the world and the sound bite goes directly to the secretary in London instantly and the document can be up the same day. And that is extremely important for Clyde and Co’s efficiency in turning that work around for our clients”
The BlackBerry solution is enterprise from start to finish and it makes it so easy for us to write software for the devices now and develop it for business needs”
As you can see from the above, BlackBerry is not a dead company as some of those unnamed tech sites, bloggers and mainstream news reporters are saying. It is still providing a very valuable service and fulfilling a critical need that their customers require.
BlackBerry is not bankrupt and has not stopped making phones as some want the general public to believe. This claim has often been made by some sales representatives in several carrier stores as a way to push a prospective customer away from buying a BlackBerry to buying one of its competitors devices. These claims have also been made by other MDM companies trying to lure away BlackBerry customers from BES.
BES10 mobile device management solution can manage and provide security, not only to BB10 devices, but IOS devices (iPhone and iPads) and Android devices as well. Unlike some of its competitors, eg. MobileIron, they have not been hacked and unfortunately UK Insurance giant Aviva found out the hard way and have since moved their affected customers over to BES10. When German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cellphone was hacked by the NSA, she and her government turned to BlackBerry 10 to provide them with a secure solution with special encryption to ensure confidentiality in their communications.
BlackBerry is still a viable company with a healthy balance sheet and over $3.1 billion in cash. So you can put all of those rumors about BlackBerry being sold and broken up into little pieces to rest.
BlackBerry is a company on the move, diversifying its portfolio, building new products, improving its operating system and satisfying its customer’s needs
As Biggly would say,
You want to deal with a company that actually cares about it’s customers rather than treating them as cash cows?
Buy a BlackBerry.
