You already do a lot on your smartphone. It’s convenient, portable, and holds all of your apps, files, and contacts. But have you ever wanted to utilise the power of your Android smartphone in a laptop? Take a look at the Superbook by Andromium Inc. It’s what inspired Andromium co-founder Andrew Jiang to crowdsource his “Superbook” project on Kickstarter.
What is the Superbook?
The Superbook is a smart laptop shell that provides a large screen, keyboard and multi-touch trackpad, 8+ hours of battery, and phone charging capabilities. When plugged into your Android smartphone, it launches Andromium’s app to deliver the full laptop experience. With the Superbook, you can do everything you can do on a laptop, and more. With desktop-class browsing, access to office applications, games, and even programming, the opportunities are limitless. And yes, it runs all the apps in the Google Play Store via your Android phone.
With Superbook you can edit documents and create presentations, play video games, access your emails and much, much more, all while charging your phone at the same time. It has a 11.6″ HD Display, 8+ Hours of Battery, Multi-Touch Trackpad & Keyboard – With Android Navigation Keys.
How it works
So how exactly does the Superbook run? With your smartphone’s processing power and Andromium’s Android app! All it takes is these two steps:
1. Download the Andromium app from the Google Play store
2. Plug in your smartphone into the Superbook
That’s all it takes. Check out the video below!
The Superbook basic package starts from $99 with additional upgrades available depending on the amount of funding raised in the Kickstarter project. Delivery is expected in February 2017 and they ship the product worldwide. This is a fantastic idea that Blackberry could have introduced to partner with BB10 devices for the ultimate productivity tool and as a replacement for the PlayBook. Check it out HERE and let us know your thoughts on this idea in the comments below. I know I’m seriously tempted to order one!
