Intergraph have announced that their Mobile Responder application is now available on BB10 devices.
The company (amongst other things) provides Computer Aided Despatch systems to public services and emergency services which allow despatch personnel to know the location of staff and use their time in the most effective way. It’s alot more than a tracker though as through the use of smartphones all sorts of further information can be exchanged and that needs to be done in the most secure fashion possible.
What does that mean? Well, in the example listed below New Zealand police, through the use of Mobile Responder saw an increase in productivity of around 30 minutes per shift, which translated into 520,000 man hours and effectively put 345 extra officers on the street!
Here’s the full press release:
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., April 29, 2014 – Intergraph®’s Mobile Responder smartphone and tablet application is now available on BlackBerry® 10 smartphones. With the new release, public safety agencies can extend Intergraph’s industry-leading computer-aided dispatch software, I/CAD, to BlackBerry® Z30, BlackBerry® Z10 and BlackBerry® Q10 smartphones. This advancement allows for a cost effective solution for all front line first responders improving public safety and overall productivity.
“Our goal is to provide public safety personnel with the ability to send and receive critical information whenever and wherever necessary,” said Kalyn Sims, vice president of Intergraph’s public safety products. “BlackBerry devices are the mobile platform of choice for many agencies. With Mobile Responder for BlackBerry, these agencies can securely access I/CAD in the field on devices that match their technology deployment strategies and workflows.”
Mobile Responder provides constant access to I/CAD, enabling public safety personnel to create events, view incident details, receive and acknowledge messages, update status, query databases and more. The technology makes public safety agencies more efficient, by reducing dispatcher workload, radio traffic, and the time field personnel spend in the office doing paperwork.
“Intergraph’s Mobile Responder is an integral application for many of BlackBerry’s key customers, particularly in law enforcement,” said Martyn Mallick, Vice President, Global Alliances and Ecosystems. “The law enforcement community has rigorous requirements, including a highly secure and reliable device; with the addition of Mobile Responder to our suite of applications, the BlackBerry platform is well-suited to meet those needs.”
As a native app, Mobile Responder provides better performance than browser-based solutions by incorporating the device’s capabilities. For example, using the advanced GPS capabilities built-in to the device, it provides dispatchers with real-time location of responders in the field. Mobile Responder also takes advantage of other benefits of smartphones and tablets, such as a smaller form factor for mounting inside vehicles.
Originally developed in conjunction with New Zealand Police, Mobile Responder has been proven in the field. New Zealand Police deployed more than 10,000 devices featuring Mobile Responder to 6,500 frontline police. Mobile Responder helps New Zealand Police increase productivity by 30 minutes per shift, which saves 520,000 hours each year and effectively puts 345 more police on the streets. Over 12 years, the mobility program will help New Zealand Police save NZ$300 million.
