Handy, secure, quick and efficient. Like a BlackBerry

PhoneDashMount

My life is mobile…but not always in a car.

My lady and I may embark on another road trip. From our last one I realized two things:

  1. Mireo Don’t Panic on my Passport is the best navigator I could ask for.
  2. I want a convenient and secure way to have my Passport viewable in the car.

To that end I researched several car phone mount options. The one pictured above is my choice. The main reason is the utter convenience of mounting and dismounting the phone; see the video below.

I need one of these for my car. It looks good. locco_smiley_21

That looks pretty cool, but I’ve never had good luck with two sided tape. Either it’s not strong enough and eventually pulls off and your phone drops off, or it’s so strong it yanks out a piece of the dashboard with it when it drops off. Let us know how long the ‘stickem’ lasts.

It is extreme heat inside a car during hot weather which loosens the glue. We may be in Florida soon. Will see how it holds up while in the Sunshine State.

I just got a similar one that connects to the air vents. Works really well. http://amzn.com/B00OJE1SG8

      Arrested Development! Lol!!

I studied photos of the dashboard and realized I would not be able to get the phone and airflow where I want them with a vent type.

I didn’t think to mention this but, the magnet will trigger the holster sensor and shut off the screen if you put the metal plate too low on the phone. I wanted it below the logo but it would not work there because the magnet would shut off the screen. Could not find a way to disable that in settings.

    • Ok. That was my question JR.

Although the magnet would be on the back of the phone so you would think it wouldn’t actuate the screen shutdown, I was wondering about that.

So you think I can bypass the magnetic screen shut down by adjusting how/where I set the magnet on the case I choose to use this with…I’ll have to find the right case to put the magnet on.

James, I found with the plastic case I use, if the attach point was below the logo on the back, the strong magnet would trigger the holster sensor. Where the plate is shown in the video is plenty far enough away from the sensor.

I recommend you stick the plate on the holder and slide the back of the phone around to check where it triggers.

Looks like a nice option, thanks!

I too would like to try this but am concerned about the double sided tape. Interested in the outcome.
